We believe that Christ is the fulfillment, focus, and future of the message of Scripture. As such, we are a gospel-centered church, primarily magnifying and glorifying Jesus Christ – God’s precious gift of redemption for all mankind. We believe we are apart of the one, holy, universal Church. As a part of Christ’s Church, we have responsibilities to see Christ formed in each other and to benefit from joint encouragement and ministry with other gospel-believing churches around us. We believe that Christ compels His Church to engage their community and bring about change through a gospel-centered lifestyle.
How Do I Join FBC Saint Peters?
To help us grow in Christlikeness, God has ordained the church. To become more Christlike you should be an active member of a local church. If you think you would like to join First Baptist Church of St. Peters, here’s how you can:
Do You Submit To Jesus?
You must be a lover of the Gospel, that is, you must be a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Having renounced yourself and repented of your sin, you are now trusting solely in the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You must be a lover of the Triune God by loving Him and the things that are precious to Him above all else. That means that you love the church, even more specifically this particular local church—its people, practices, beliefs, and leadership.
The first step that we encourage for all prospective members is for them to learn from our 5-part Covenant Membership class, where we explain the basic documents and life of our local church. We teach this the first five weeks of each year. However, we always make them available online for you to access anytime. You can access them here. As you listen and read through the sessions, please email us a basic summary of what you learned for each session. If at any point along these sessions, you’d like to meet with one of us for further questions and/or explanations, please contact any one of us and we will get with you as soon as we can.
After you have finished with all five sessions, we ask that you arrange a time with us when one of us can get together with you and conduct a membership interview. This will be a time when we can ask questions about your testimony, a little about your background, your personal relationship with Jesus, your previous church involvement, and a few other things. We will also ask you to agree to uphold the church covenant at that time.
Once we have made our way through these things, and we believe you are ready for membership, the pastors will present your name to the church body, who will vote to bring you in during a Members’ Meeting. Once the vote has been put through, we will schedule a Sunday where we will present you to our church family at the conclusion of our corporate worship.
